WPA has managed many Planning Permits in the Multi Unit / Apartment market ranging from small six-unit developments to larger and more complex mixed-use projects.
The largest of these in recent years was a mixed use site in Sydney Road, Coburg, where WPA worked with the Planning Panel to achieve a superior outcome for the client in the rezone process. The development required rezoning of the land from the Commercial 2 Zone to the Activity Centre Zone to allow for a high density residential development.
WPA then followed up with a Planning Permit for a Supermarket, speciality shops, office space, townhouses and 125 apartments. International architecture firm Taylors designed the proposed development, with a net saleable area of 11,843 square metres over five levels.
A recent example of a smaller site was a successful six-unit development in Hurstbridge. The owners of a heritage listed shop proposed to develop the site, which provoked an adverse reaction from a very vocal and active residents group. The proposal went to VCAT where WPA was able to obtain a favourable outcome for the client.
